Beach party with Backstreet Boys


THE sensational boy-band Backstreet Boys is performing today at Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach in Bandar Sunway, Selangor.

The American pop group’s one-night-only showcase at 8pm.

The Grammy-nominated group has sold over 100 million albums worldwide and has been named the bestselling boy band of all-time. The member members are Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, and A. J. McLean. Kevin Richardson left the group in 2006.

Formed in 1993, the Backstreet Boys held its first concert at Sea World in Orlando, Florida. Three years later, it toured Europe and was voted Germany’s favourite international group by a German television.

The Backstreet Boys’ hit song I’ll Never Break Your Heart became a major hit on both sides of the Atlantic. The title track of the group’s second album Quit Playing Games With My Heart, also became a major hit.
In 1999, the Backstreet Boys released the album Millennium, which sold over 1.13 million units in its first week. It went on to sell 40 million copies worldwide and had a major hit in I Want It That Way.

In 2000, the group released Black And Blue, and promoted the new album with a 100-hour world tour to Sweden, Japan, Australia, South Africa and Brazil. The hits from this album included Shape Of My Heart, The Call and More Than That.

In 2001, the group released a disc of its greatest hits titled The Hits: Chapter One. It sold over six million copies worldwide. In the same year, the group became involved in the all-star tribute single What’s Going On, in aid of AIDS patients and victims of the Sept 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Carter released his solo album Now Or Never in 2002.

In 2005, the group released the album Never Gone after a three-year hiatus. It contained the hit songs Incomplete and Just Want You To Know.

Last year came the album Unbreakable, the group’s sixth, which contained the hit singles Inconsolable and Helpless When She Smiles.
